Dr. Walter Corey, Chairman of the Board

With a doctorate in leadership development, Dr. Walter Corey’s professional career spans law and business, profit and non-profit alike. As a lecturer at the Naval War College, Dr. Corey is directly involved in the education and training of leaders in the United States Navy, as well as members of the Maine National Guard and the U.S. Navy SEALs.

Recognizing the success of the Leadership Enhancement Training Tool (LETT®) in these environments, he has led its adaptation to sports (the ATHLETT™) for individual athletes as well as teams.

Before leading CogSports™ as the Chairman of the Board and co-Founder, Dr. Corey was the first Federal Coordinator of the State of Maine, where he learned the intricacies of public finance in federal-state relations. He was also the draftsman of state plans necessary to comply with federal regulations. In the professional sector, Walter began his legal career at Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer and Nelson and was co-founder of the Curtis-Thaxter law firm where he practiced public law. Later, he turned his focus to new business development in sectors where corporate interests intersect with detailed federal regulatory policies.

An avid sports fan, Walter has an A.B. from Princeton University, an M.A. and J.D. from Yale University and a Doctor of Ministry from the Bangor Seminary. He has served on a wide range of public and private boards throughout his entire career. He is also a Member of the American College Counseling Association, providing leadership and advocacy for the profession of counseling in higher education.

Jordan Denning, Founder

An entrepreneur and attorney, Jordan Denning has spent nearly twenty years in large national law firms, public and private companies, sports, education, and technology-focused endeavors, building an extensive national network of sports industry resources. A lifelong sports fan and competitor, Jordan has honed his leadership development skills with his work in building CogSports and researching and developing the Leadership Enhancement Training tool for Athletic Results ATHLETT™, as well as work at the Naval War College, the staff college and “home of thought” for the U.S. Navy.

Always active in his New England community, he serves as a Director of Safe Passage/Camino Seguro, as well the Maine Leadership Institute (MLI), developers of the Leadership Enhancement Training Tool (LETT®).

With significant experience in technology, corporate and intellectual property matters, Jordan's previous positions have included roles with Shipyard Brewing Company, Wright Express Corporation (NYSE: WXS), and leadership positions within a handful of start-up companies.

After graduating from Hobart College with a B.A. in English Literature where he served as captain of the basketball team, Mr. Denning attended the University of New Hampshire School of Law, where he earned a joint J.D. and Masters in Intellectual Property (MIP).

Richard Borts, Chief Financial Officer

As CFO of CogSports™, Richard Bort brings more than 25 years of experience with large corporate and entrepreneurial start-ups. His experience includes senior level finance positions with Price Waterhouse Coopers, Citibank, (NYSE:C) Cendant Corporation’s (NYSE:CD), Clareon, Wright Express (NYSE:WXS), and PowerPay. For six years, Richard was Chief Financial Officer of PowerPay, Inc., a privately held provider of merchant payment products and services, where he helped lead PowerPay from a start-up to a top-40 processor of payment transactions in the U.S. Richard was also Corporate Treasurer at Wright Express Corporation. During his tenure there, he served as Chief Operating Officer of Roadsmith, Inc. a start-up, internet-based commercial vehicle Management Company. A fan and player of domestic and international soccer, Richard also serves as Chairman of the Board of the Cedars, a senior living healthcare and retirement community in Portland, Maine.

Richard received a B.A. from George Washington University, an M.C.P. from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. in Finance from Washington University in St. Louis.

David Burnham, Chief Information Officer

With 30 years of experience in project management, design, and development of enterprise-level business systems applications, David Burnham was most recently the Senior Director of Technology at MEDCO (NYSE:MHS).

Dave has been involved with designing and implementing business-critical IT systems for several successful start-up companies, Fortune 500 companies, and government agencies. He also has significant experience designing, developing and implementing regulatory compliant systems at MEDCO (NYSE:MHS), as well as at Intellicare and UNUM Insurance (NYSE:UNM).

A regular on his local pick-up basketball courts, Dave has a B.S. degree from Temple University.

Dr. Steven Katz, Senior Advisor

Dr. Steven Katz has had both a clinical and academic career in psychology, psychiatry and psychoanalysis. Board-certified in such disciplines, Steve has been a member of the department of psychology at multiple hospitals in New York and Maine, including Bellevue Hospital, NYU Medical Center and Mercy Hospital, Portland, Maine and he has been a member of the faculty at both Columbia University and NYU. Steve has also acted as an advisor to multiple public and private organizations, including the U.S. Veterans’ Administration, the Joint Standing Committee on Health and Human Services, Legislature, State of Maine, Augusta Mental Health Institute, Augusta, Maine, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Boston, Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, New London, CT, Kaiser Permanente of California and Media Innovations, University of Leeds, Leeds, England. Steve has served as a psychiatrist in the U.S. Army and is the author or co-author of numerous books, articles and research papers. He is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the American College of Psychiatrists, the American Medical Association and the American Psychiatric Association.

Dr. Katz completed his B.A. at Cornell University and received his M.D. degree from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia.
